We are hiring an experienced Compliance Officer for Southern Africa Cluster (South Africa & Sub-Saharan Africa Countries). The Compliance Officer reports directly to the General Manager and dotted line to the Regional Compliance Officer IMETA and is a permanent member of the local management team. The job is located in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will participate and contribute to the global compliance projects. S/he will serve as the business partner for all Businesses and Functions on Compliance related matters.
- Ensure implementation, development and maintenance of the elements of the BI compliance program (Organisation and Governance, Risk Assessment, Training and Communication, Monitoring and Reporting, Internal Investigations and Policy and Procedures) across the responsible cluster.
- Serve as the interface for Regional Operating Unit (ROPU IMETA; India, Middle East, Africa) and where relevant Corporate Ethics & Compliance to ensure proper information exchange and connection between Corporate ROPU and relevant cluster across IMETA.
- Support and Accountability where applicable to ROPU IMETA compliance initiatives and on Corporate or ROPU led projects (example Corporate Waves) as assigned by IMETA compliance officer.
- Enhance the OPU tone from the top and ensure management awareness and management expectations and obligations related to compliance.
- Represent Boehringer Ingelheim in relevant industry groups and bodies.
- 5-10 years’ experience in a global professional or corporate environment preferably in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry within compliance department
- Experience within South Africa and South African Countries
- Experience of relevant local and regional and internal and external laws, regulations and industry codes to be able to assess risks profiles for the organization.
- Understanding of pharmaceutical marketing principles
- Good analytical skills for reasoned judgements based on experience.
- Planning- and conflict resolution skills, Project management skills, focus and finish attitude.
- Ability to analyze factual information and resolves problems by making judgements based on experience of similar situations.
- Ability to influence people without authority.
- Able to connect to all layers and functions within the local organization and has to be able to operate in a matrix organization.
- Display a high level of maturity and Emotional Intelligence.
