- Job Description
-Implement Underground Stay in Business (SIB) electrical, control & instrumentation (EC&I) engineering effort to meet DeBeers Group and Anglo-American standards, specifications and procedures throughout the Life of Mine (LOM). - Implement the industrial automation systems implementation and successful deployment within business scope.
- Implement & drive successful project delivery.
- Assure that all fabrication and construction quality standards are met.
- Enhance and maintain integration and teamwork between the various technical disciplines and appointed engineering consultants.
- Maintain and ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
- Demonstrate corporate values, code of business & conduct.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable SHE policies and procedures.
- Adhere to legislative & corporate compliance requirements.
- Ensure adherence to approved budgeted expenditure.
- Report deviances according financial procedure
- Assist in compiling relevant costing for the purchase of relevant equipment (where required).
- To implement, co-ordinate and control electrical; C&I related engineering activities in the operation/project/division, providing an integrated and effective engineering service ensuring the achievement of departmental objectives and provision of technical guidance to other departments.
- EC&I engineering activities based on relevant business requirements taking specific materials requirements into account.
- Manages the electrical, C&I discipline cohesiveness by; ensuring integration at operational level; ensuring technical co-ordination across the discipline/ sections.
- Develops appropriate electrical, C&I engineering, maintenance and project systems to support the strategic plan and meet objectives and targets
- Interprets the requirements of the electrical, C&I section, taking cognisance of the Best Practice directives/ criteria (C&I and Asset Management), develops appropriate systems to ensure achievement of targets.
- To provide a reliable, total electrical, C&I engineering service in support of all activities which contribute to the growth and profitability of De Beers.
- Ensure compliance with document control standards and procedures as well as quality of documentation, drawings and associated metadata.
- Implementation of project designs
- Application of engineering process methodology and implementation of project standards.

- Qualifications
-National Diploma in Electrical & C&I Engineering or N6 in Electrical or Instrumentation/ Instrument Mechanician with Minimum of 5 years’ experience Electrical Controls & Instrumentation, or in a similar environment, OR • - Instrumentation Mechanician Trade Certificate with Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Electrical Controls & Instrumentation, or in a similar environment
Role-specific knowledge & Experience:
- Experience with Mine shafts, & underground construction, preferred
- Technical areas including Mining, Metallurgy, Electrical and Control & Instrumentation Engineering.
- Construction / Engineering project management
- Draughtsman experience
- Computer literacy – MS Office Suite
- Communication & problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Planning & organizing skills
- Additional Information
-Be prepared to work shifts, do standby duties, callouts and work overtime as per the role requirements - Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground
- The post is dependent on the successful completion of the Company’s pre-employment protocol such as qualifications verification, relevant psychometric assessments and a clear security clearance
