Job Requirements & Responsibilities
Are you an experienced professional in fleet management with a passion for efficient transportation operations? We are seeking a highly skilled Transport Manager to oversee and execute activities related to transportation within our client’s company.
A minimum of five years of fleet management experience with strong technical knowledge is required.
Minimum Requirements:
A tertiary qualification in Logistics / Supply Chain required
Five years experience managing a fleet of vehicles
Experience managing dangerous goods or bulk tankers
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate vehicle deliveries and inbound collections in collaboration with the plant supervisor.
Monitor and manage driver overtime to ensure compliance with regulations.
Ensure drivers’ training, licenses, and medical certifications are up to date.
Monitor telematics systems, including vehicle tracking, dash cameras, and variance reporting.
Maintain accurate and complete maintenance records.
Plan scheduled maintenance of trucks in coordination with the Plant Supervisor and Operations Manager.
Ensure adherence to the vehicle maintenance policy, including routine servicing, pre and post-trip briefings/debriefings, inspections, and tire maintenance.
Communicate and coordinate with the Operations Manager, Plant Supervisor, and Drivers to address any vehicle-related issues.
Ensure company vehicles comply with legal requirements, licenses, Certificates of Fitness (COFs), and dangerous goods permits.
Address breakdowns reported by drivers by liaising with contractors.
Rectify any driver faults reported on pre and post-check delivery sheets.
Ensure the security of trucks by selecting safe routes and providing secure parking options.
Monitor and control diesel usage.
Monitor and control tire usage and performance by tracking kilometres travelled and identifying wear trends.
Prepare the annual budget for areas of responsibility.
Report monthly budget variances in collaboration with the Operations Manager.
