Job Requirements & Responsibilities
- SANC registration as a registered nurse
- Infection Prevention & Control Qualification (Certificate/Diploma)
- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to initiate and implement Infection prevention & control improvement programmes
- Leadership qualities and mentoring skills
- Excellent MS Office computer skills, i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
Key Outputs:
- Comply with legislation & Bylaws relating to the infection prevention & control portfolio & waste management (HCRW)
- Chair the Infection Control committee meetings monthly – Link nurses
- Member of the Antibiotic stewardship forum
- Investigation of all Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI)
- Compile & Implement disease outbreak interventions
- Review infection control practices in the hospital, simplify and streamline processes
- Assist with compiling, Implementation & compliance monitoring of IPC policies & work procedures
- Laboratory surveillance & identifying risks organisms
- Reporting of notifiable diseases to the relevant authorities
- Implementation & compliance monitoring of the relevant Best care always bundle
Waste management operational functions - Conduct and manage compliance of internal and external audits
- Provide inhouse training needs in the abovementioned portfolio
